CSA and MHA Launch National Simulated Scams Exercise as Part of Exercise SG Ready 2026

1                The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), with the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs, will launch a pilot run of the National Simulated Scams Exercise (NSSE) to be conducted from 1 March to 31 August 2026. The NSSE is part of Exercise SG Ready 2026[1], and was announced by Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information and Minister-in-charge of Cybersecurity and Smart Nation Group, at the Exercise SG Ready and Total Defence Commemoration Event. 

2               The NSSE is part of the Government’s public education effort to combat scams. Members of the public can register to take part in the NSSE - participants will be able to gain a better understanding of how scams typically work and learn practical steps to protect themselves, via simulated scam attempts in a safe environment. The NSSE will focus on Government Official Impersonation Scams (GOIS), a key scam type of concern[2]. Participants will receive robocalls simulating scammers’ GOIS tactics. At the end of the exercise, participants will learn steps they can take when they encounter GOIS tactics in real life.  CSA is working with public service agencies and community groups such as Lions Befrienders to extend the exercise to employees and members.

3               The exercise supports Total Defence by strengthening our collective Digital Defence and societal resilience against ever-evolving scams.

4               Registration of the NSSE opens today (1 February 2026), and members of the public are strongly encouraged to participate in this exercise. Participants will receive robocalls at any point during the six-month period of the exercise, mimicking typical GOIS tactics.  More details about the NSSE and the registration process can be found on the CSA website at https://go.gov.sg/nsse.

[2] In the first half of 2025, the number of GOIS cases reported to the Police almost tripled, as compared to same period in 2024. Most GOIS cases are conducted via phone call. and WhatsApp.
